Sprinkles Mix...buy it. try it.

Sunday evening I made the Sprinkles Vanilla Cake mix! Let me just tell you how good it was...my parents think I made it from scratch. Sorry Mom, if you're reading this right now.

The mix is $14, but let me tell you now...it is worth it! You won't ever want to buy the 89 cent Duncan Hines mix again. Either that, or you'll want to start making yours from scratch, because no other mix that I know of now will beat this.

Some things I noticed. the mix calls for 1 egg and 2 egg whites instead of the 3 full eggs I'm used to. The way they have you mix the ingredients was a bit different. You didn't add liquid or vanilla until the very very last...and the eggs went in themselves. The batter was very thick. Lastly, the frosting was very, very thick and they have you make it all from scratch. It was great! Oh, and the modern dots are edible...but I only had one of them from the number-that-will-remain-unknown cupcakes that I consumed. I also used Williams-Sonoma's Silicups, I think they added to the moist goodness.

The cupcakes were so dense and moist. I really couldn't believe it. I can only imagine how amazing the fresh ones from the Sprinkles shop taste.

Top photo courtesy of Williams-Sonoma.com. Mine is to the right.

You can purchase the mix from the official Sprinkles Cupcake site or Williams-Sonoma.

I don't think I could handle spending that kind of money on a mix! Especially because my fam would have them eaten so fast, it wouldn't be worth it! One day, I may splurge, but until then, post if you find an amazing "scratch" recipe and I will do the same!

Hey, you don;t know me but I also love all things domestic. Just thought I would tell you about my fav cake mix. It's Absolutly Almond Pound Cake from Tastefully Simple. All you add is water and butter. It's to die for! I started selling this just so I could get a good deal on this cake mix.

Jen, like I said when we chatted on the phone yesterday...I'm so on the lookout for a good scratch recipe. If anything this mix made me more motivated than ever to have my own signature recipe that is fantastic.

Joy, I'm glad you found my blog! Welcome! I hope you'll visit and comment frequently. I just checked out your site and your products look tasty! Both the chocolate and almond pound cakes look worth trying...i'm just imagining how good they'd taste with my vanilla buttercream recipe. :)

Becky, these are the most beautiful cupcakes I have ever seen. Also, I've never been a huge fan of regualr cake mix cupcakes. I've always secretly felt that something was wrong with me because I didn't like cupcakes, but maybe I've just never had a really good one ;-)

Bex, I don't think I will ever buy the mix, I am way too cheap. But they do look good! Also, I have never really met a frosting I have loved. I would like to challenge you to make me a frosting that I love. In fact, I almost hate all frostings.....

Meg, I'm now on the lookout! However, you did say you liked the nutella buttercream one that I used for your baby shower, yes?

But I think you are now meaning like a vanilla/everyday buttercream frosting? I'm gonna find one...and try it when I get back to Utah.

Oh, yeah, I LOVED the nutella stuff! I am talking about frosting that goes on top of any cake, cupcake, etc. I have never met a frosting that I didn't scrape off the cake. I hereby challenge you, Bex!! Was the nutella stuff frosting, or filling? Cause I did love it!

It was my vanilla buttercream recipe mixed with about three quarters to about a cup of Nutella. :)
