Hell month that is.
Wait...what? Sugar and spice and everything Tuesdays with Dorie simply must be Heaven. And it is...oh it is! I guess what I'm trying to say is I've officially declared November 2011 as Tuesdays with Dorie Hell Month, meaning I'll be posting two recipes not just every Tuesday (with the group), but every day! Remember playing sports in high school and you had Hell Week in August? Yeah, that was nothing. This is an entire month. :)
Yes, my friends, you can now refer to me as the comeback baker. We've got two months to finish this book and I'm gonna do it. Technically, I have 33 recipes left to bake to completely catch-up and finish every recipe from Baking From My Home to Yours by Dorie Greenspan. However, I've got dozens and dozens of finished Tuesdays with Dorie photos and stories I need to post post. I'm a woman of my word and it's all going to happen this month! It's game time.
Jeannette of Whimsical Cupcake chose Honey Nut Scones. You can find the recipe on her blog. I actually baked these scones back in August. My little sister was spending the night and I decided to play bed and breakfast hostess and make her a wonderful brunch of made-to-order eggs, fancy hot chocolate, roasted red potatoes and Dorie's Honey-Nut Scones. You can actually see more pictures on this post I wrote about it.
I remember really enjoying these scones. We ate them fresh from the oven with delicious jam and honey. The scones were really balanced. I loved the sweetness from the honey and the heartiness and body that came from using all-purpose and whole wheat flour. I used pecans instead of walnuts. You really should try these Honey-Nut Scones.

Welcome to hell week, huh!! I am glad it's baking and not physical exercise! Im training for a half marathon that is next Sat. and I don't want to do any extra workouts!!
Your scones look perfect, so hearty and rustic! I love the color of them!

What a treat for your sister! They look wonderful! Hope you survive he'll week!
Good luck with your endeavor (that's quite an undertaking, but I think being a TWD member should come in handy). :D
Your scones look perfect, I'm loving their nubby texture!
Wow, I'm impressed by your ambition - good luck with the posts, looking forward to seeing them :) The scones turned out perfectly, and I bet your sister loved them!

You are a better woman than I am!! Good luck. I wanna make all the ones I missed, but will do it a lot slower.
Scones look great.
Hell Month, LOL!! I didn't get to the far brenton and I already feel the stress of trying to bake at least one of the TWD recipes and still do my own thing. Thank you for baking along with me this week!
these sound amazing! I'm bookmarking them. Also, thanks for the tip on the burrito place in Provo, I'll have to check that out. It looked amazing.
Those look amazing! I laughed at the hell week description - actually, I thought this week's two recipes were pretty manageable. What I am going to do next week with no madeleine pan, I have no idea!
