Happy Labor Day + A Day at Deer Valley Resort

Happy Labor Day, friends. I hope you've had a relaxing weekend full of family, good food and fun. I sure have and its been great. This weekend I had the chance to head up to Park City to one of my very favorite ski resorts, Deer Valley Resort. It was such a break from the norm. Each time I head up to the mountains, especially in Park City I wonder why on Earth I don't do it more often.

Our first stop was the Royal Street Cafe, located mid mountain on Silver Lake Lodge. Eating out on the deck is ideal and just steps away from taking a summer chair lift ride. I've been to Royal Street before and it just keeps getting better. The food is impressively delicious.

Deer Valley is famous for their Turkey Chili. And I'm here to tell you it is great! It only gets better as the weather gets cooler. Royal Street Cafe is open from June 15 - September 9. Yes, that means you have a week left to enjoy a meal out on their patio deck. However, they do reopen for the ski season and start taking reservations tomorrow for skiing beginning November 5. Yes, it's that sought after.

Some of my other favorite dishes include their minted lemonade (at the top of this post), muffalleta panini bites, garlic-herb-parmesan shoestring fries, calamari (some of the best I've ever had) iceberg wedge salad (it has beets, a vinaigrette and large chunks of bleu cheese) and the royal chocolate brownie with malted ice cream and almond brittle. I think my favorite dessert though is the frozen lemon meringue pie.

If you're in the mood for a lighter dessert or want to save it for later, Royal Street's cookies are perfect. Take them to go and enjoy them as you ride the chair lifts. Nothing beats a great view and time to chat. This is a Utah summer must!

The views at the top of the mountain are spectacular. It's moments like these that I really feel like I'm living and taking advantage of all mother nature has to offer. I live in such a beautiful state and hope to experience it more. Next year we plan on mountain biking down the trails and of course, enjoying some more turkey chili and minted lemonade!

I too love their iceberg wedge! I've never had the calamari though but if you say it's the best you've ever had I think that's worth a trip to Deer Valley in itself!! Great review!
