Yesterday I shared my personal 12 favorite recipes of 2012. It's only fair now that I share what Project Domestication recipes you loved to see (and eat) in 2012! There was actually a bit of crossover between the two lists. Looks like we have similar tastes. Here we go...
Beet Ice Cream - I'm actually surprised I don't have more beet recipes on here. It's one of my most favorite foods. But I guess you can tell because why else would I make it into an ice cream treat?
9. Apple, Bacon and Cheddar Grilled Cheese Sandwiches with Caramelized Onions - Sometimes you've just got to have a cheesy sandwich. I channeled one of my favorite NYC cheese shops for a cool technique to make the perfect grilled cheese. And it might help that I'm using a killer local cheese and caramelized onions.
7. Gone with the Wind Lime JELL-O Dessert - I was surprised to see this recipe top out so high. My mom made this funky JELL-O concoction for us as kids. I just happen to like eating it while watching the movie it's named after.
6. Grandma Beda's Swedish Pancakes - This is the most special recipe I made in 2012. It made me feel so connected to my mom, grandma and great grandmother in a way only family recipes can. These pancakes are light yet rich and delightful.
So there you have it. You loved easy-to-make (and with few ingredients) ice creams, no-bake cookies and oatmeal. You also enjoyed a peek into my Swedish Heritage and a funky JELL-O recipe I grew up with among other delicious dishes. Thanks so much for visiting Project Domestication. I can't wait for all that 2013 has to bring, including a new site design that should be ready before my 5-year blog birthday. Happy New Year!
